Classical Classics - New Milford

The Sherman Chamber Ensemble presents “Classical Classics” with music for flute, and strings.  In a tribute to America 250, the program features a movement from the String Trio No. 1 by Joseph Antes (1740-1822), one of the earliest American-born chamber music composers and a contemporary of Franz Josef Haydn.  He is also the maker of perhaps the earliest surviving bowed string instrument made in America, a violin from 1759 – now housed in the Moravian Historical Society in Nazareth, PA.
